The Lincoln Haymarket Development Corporation (LHDC) has been named the recipient of the 2015 Great Commoner Award for preservation education for their updated and expanded Historic Haymarket walking tour booklet and website. This award is part of the 22nd annual preservation awards program, organized by the Preservation Association of Lincoln (PAL).
The Walking Tour book was designed to give locals and tourists alike an opportunity to take in the history of Lincoln’s Haymarket firsthand. With detailed descriptions and historic photos accompanying, visitors to the area can be their very own confident tour guides. The website replicates the tour book text in full and offers additional high resolution photographs and a responsive map for the digital tourist.
Diane Cunningham, representing the LHDC walking tour committee, thanked PAL for the honor, saying,
“We’re thrilled to receive this award after our team has put in a lot of time and effort, and we’re excited for people to take the tour, read the book or view the website.”
The Preservation Association of Lincoln is a non-profit organization which advocates for the renovation, preservation and/or integration of historic buildings, sites and neighborhoods.
