Parade to Feature More Balloons, More Bands, More Entries Than Ever Before

For the 25th Anniversary of the Parade, the Marvel Comic Super Heroes are converging on Downtown Lincoln! Thanks to Cleaner Greener Lincoln, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America and Green Goblin will make special appearances throughout the weekend to help make Lincoln a green and safer place, so don’t miss your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the real deal! In addition to these super-human heroes, this year’s Parade will celebrate its grand past and look toward its bright future with more balloons, more bands and more entries than ever before, including several new and exciting entries. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will officially ring in the holiday season on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lincoln’s signature holiday event and the largest holiday parade in a five-state region!

Bring out the whole family as Elmo soars through the sky, joined by Ziggy, Kermit, Mighty Mouse and a larger-than-life hotrod. We’ve been dreaming big and have pulled out all the stops for our 25th anniversary. You’ll be in awe of the surprises we have in store for you! Among the stunning displays of wonderment, watch for several new community floats, including a Victorian-style home and a visit from Charlie Chaplin, as well as some of our favorite entries from the past.

With 17 marching bands, more than ever before, the Parade will be sure to bring the sounds of the season to those watching the whimsical celebration. You’ll see giant helium balloons, spectacular floats, regal horses and much more at this year’s Star City Holiday Parade.

The Parade will end with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Their most dedicated elves and U.S. Postal Service employees will be collecting your letters to Santa along the route. Be sure to include your return address and he will write you back before the holidays!

The Parade has a 25-year history of bringing holiday cheer to our community! Join us at this cherished tradition as we celebrate our whimsical dreams, our special memories from the past and our grand wishes for the future.

Marcus Theatres is also offering free movie showings of Spider-Man and A Christmas Story on the big-screens at The Grand on a first-come, first-served basis. Take advantage of these great family moments and join us for some holiday fun!

Parade Schedule

8:30 a.m. - Free showing of Spider-Man movie at The Grand
9 a.m. - Free showing of A Christmas Story at The Grand
9:30 a.m. -    Pre-Parade Entertainment begins at each intersection along the Parade route.
11 - 12:30 a.m. -  Parade steps off at 14th & M streets
1 p.m. -    Operation Green Show with Marvel Super Heroes begins at The Grand
1 p.m -  Free showing of A Christmas Story movie at The Grand
1:30 - 2:30 p.m. -Meet Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America & Green Goblin at The Grand
1:30 p.m. -    Free showing of Spider-Man movie at The Grand

Reserve a Bleacher Seat for the Parade!
Enjoy the 25th Annual Star City Holiday Parade in grand style! Guarantee your seat along the Parade route by purchasing a bleacher seat.

The seats are along the Parade Route and will be sold for $13 each, including sales tax. Seating purchased after Monday, November 30, 2009 will be available for pick-up at the Information Booth at Wells Fargo Plaza (13th & O streets). Seating is limited and available on a first-paid, first-reserved basis.

In honor of our 25th anniversary, we are offering special edition sweatshirts for sale to commemorate the Parade! Both crewneck and hooded sweatshirts are available. Please note that orders must be received by 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009. Orders will be ready for pick-up on December 21st.
