DLA names Pinkerton New Maintenance Director
Lincoln, NE – The Downtown Lincoln Association has named George Pinkerton as their new maintenance director. Pinkerton will take over for Gene Langdale who served as director for nearly 15 years.
“We are pleased to have someone with George’s experience and qualifications on our staff,” said Terry Uland, DLA Deputy Director.
As a former grounds maintenance supervisor of the Beatrice State Developmental Center, Pinkerton’s duties included the development and implementation of long term strategic plans, as well as the annual operational plans for a 110 acre facility that includes 42 acres of high-maintenance turf and 68 acres of native prairie. Pinkerton has also served as a part-time Horticultural Instructor at Southeast Community College for over 15 years.
“I appreciate the opportunity to work with the DLA, its stakeholders, Community Alternatives of Nebraska (CAN) and the maintenance crew for the betterment of downtown Lincoln,” stated Pinkerton, who will be responsible for managing a seven member maintenance crew.
Pinkerton has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture/Agronomy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a long time certified Nebraska arborist and member of the Nebraska Nursery and Landscape Association (NNLA).
The DLA maintenance program provides daily trash removal, sidewalk cleaning, litter clean-up and landscape maintenance to 205 block faces and more than 193,000 feet of public space in Haymarket and downtown. The district includes more than 1,100 planting beds, 300 trash containers and dozens of cigarette butt receptacles as well as more than 200 light poles where DLA does seasonal banner installation.
