Updowntowners Celebrates 25 Years

Updowntowners recently announced that the organization is celebrating 25 years of service to the city of Lincoln.

Several special activities are planned throughout the year beginning with “25 Years of Life and Celebration” on Sunday, May 17. The event for all members and volunteers past and present will feature The Elders, one of the favorite bands from Updowntowners signature events, July Jamm and Celebrate Lincoln.

The event will be held at Red9 on 322 South 9th Street from 7-10 p.m. The TwentyFive planning committee is searching for past members, volunteers and sponsors to invite them to the event and thank them for their involvement and years of energy given to Updowntowners and the community. Several events are planned throughout the year with activities culminating at a special 25th Annual Star City Holiday Parade on December 5.

The Downtown Lincoln organized Updowntowners in 1984 as a resource for human “energy” to produce downtown events. In 2000 Updowntowners incorporated under the parent organization as the preeminent event production organization for Lincoln. Today the membership of nearly 300 people and 1,000 volunteers is committed to work on events and projects that will focus on bringing the community together.
