The Post Caters to Community

Located on 20th and N Street, The Post brings a welcoming atmosphere to the Telegraph District. 

Sunlight floods through the inside of the southern-facing windows, welcoming newcomers to The Post. Bushy plants line the indoor patio and the familiar friendly feeling floods the senses. 

A dapper-looking man is stationed behind the bar top. Jesse Foster welcomes everyone with a wide smile and a booming voice. 

Originally from Alabama, Jesse Foster grew up with southern hospitality as a part of his day-to-day life. Before leaving the state, Foster worked to receive a Ph.D. in Psychology with a focus on curriculum, instruction, and instructional technology. 

Finally moving to Nebraska in 2001, Foster worked at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before giving it all up. 

“I got tired of listening to other people,” Foster said. “I wanted to do something fun.” 

Foster then started his newest project: The Post. 

The Post brings a funky and light twist on a cocktail bar experience. Kim Adams Johnson is the customer concierge and event coordinator at The Post. Adams Johnson explains the unique aspects of what makes The Post special. 

“We use more of a mixologist frame of mind,” Adams Johnson said. “We make some of our own syrups, we’re putting new spins on some of the older fashion drinks.”

One of the cocktails on their menu is an Old Fashioned but with brown sugar-infused syrup and Uncle Nearest whiskey. Or, if that’s not to your taste, a common drink order is The Post’s Manmosa: beer with orange juice and a splash of grenadine, served with a shot of tequila on the side. The perfect addition to a Sunday brunch. 

Every other Sunday, The Post hosts Sunday Southern Brunch, and breakfast food is brought in by Lila Mae’s Southern Kitchen & Lounge. Southern hospitality is an important part of The Post experience. 

“Communication is key, [Foster] tries to keep things running with communication,” Adams Johnson said. “ People don’t listen anymore, they’re just simply waiting for their turn to speak. So that’s what we try to do, here, with our employees, and with people that we work with, and with our customers.”

The Post welcomes everyone to come visit, often hosting special event nights. Mondays are “Proper Pajama & Popcorn Party” with a movie projected onto a big screen. The Post will ask for movie suggestions via social media. 

Chess club is held every Thursday night and is open to the public. Keep up to date on upcoming events at The Post through Facebook. 

The Post hosts First Saturday, their take on First Friday, but on the first Saturday of the month. They provide spaces for local artists to display their work. They currently are hosting three local artists.

The Post has collaborated with other Telegraph businesses to create a unique activity night. Past examples include a charcuterie class, an art class on Valentine’s Day with AR Workshop, and a sip and fit dance class. 

“We bring in such a wide variety of people,” Adams Johnson said. “We’re just trying to make an atmosphere where everybody feels comfortable.” 

It’s clear community is an important part of what makes up The Post. 

“Guests become friends and friends become family,” Adams Johnson said. “That’s our motto here.”

The Post is open 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and Friday and Saturday until 2 a.m.; and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
