Wax Buffalo brings German-Inspired Winter Market to O

Wax Buffalo is bringing the first-ever Winter Market to Downtown Lincoln. This German-inspired holiday market is coming on December 4 and will be located on O and 8th Street under the viaduct.

Enjoy 75 pop-up shops, food, and drink vendors while the whole family has a little holiday fun. There will be a Kid’s Corner equipped with Art Bus LNK, a live DJ, and an hourly storytime.

Snow or shine, Santa will make an appearance and the Winter Princesses will wander the Winter Market. This event is fun for the whole family.

Owner of Wax Buffalo Alicia Reisinger came up with the idea after she and her husband had the opportunity to spend some time in Frankfurt, Germany. While sitting at an outdoor cafe enjoying German beers, Reisinger thought “this place reminds me of the Haymarket back home.”

Brianne Bayer, Director of Brands, has been working on advertising Wax Buffalo’s Winter Market.

“[Alicia] comes back and presents her idea to the team,” Brianne Bayer said. “She’s like we’ve got to bring a German-inspired holiday festival to Lincoln.”

“We’re like, yes, [the Wax Buffalo team is] in,” Bayer said. “Let’s do this, and so we started the process. She presents this event idea to the Haymarket Association and there is this overwhelming excitement and just kind of love for this event.”

Wax Buffalo then went to the city to ask for permission from their events committee, and the city also encouraged the idea of a holiday market in the Haymarket.

“So we get done with our spiel, our presentation to the city,” Bayer said. “And we ask if there are any questions and one guy raises his hand and asks, ‘Can you make this work? Can you do this in just one day?’ and we were like we love your enthusiasm, but we’re going to start here.”

“And I think that was the moment that we knew we were going to pull this off,” Bayer said.

Join Wax Buffalo’s crew for this one-of-a-kind afternoon filled with holiday cheer. Take in the twinkling holiday lights, holiday carolers, and Christmas tree lot.

The Winter Market will start at noon and end at 6 p.m. Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird will be lighting the Christmas Tree at 1 p.m.

Tickets are only $10 for this unique Downtown Lincoln experience. You can purchase tickets here
