Join us for the public reception for “Charles W. Guildner: Retrospective of Life’s Work” at the Great Plains Art Museum as part of Lincoln’s First Friday Art Walk. The artist will be present for a meet and greet as part of the event.
In 1990, Charles Guildner began photographing the landscape and people of the rural heartland. In the years since, Guildner has expertly recorded how the people of this region have maintained their traditional ways of life. This exhibition—a retrospective of Guildner’s 30-year photographic career—features examples from his “Lives of Tradition” series and from other projects.
“Up in the Air: Great Plains Weather” is also opening in the main gallery during this event. This exhibition explores how artists have chosen to depict the ever-changing weather on the Great Plains. These images of snow-covered landscapes, tumultuous storms, and cloud-filled skies contribute to our understanding of how dynamic weather events affect the landscape and people of the region.
This event is free and open to the public. Parking is usually available at the Que Place garage at 11th and Q streets. Note there is construction in the area.
