Downtown YMCA Celebrates Its Renovations

Join the Downtown YMCA for an open house May 13 - 17

The Downtown Lincoln YMCA, located at 1039 P Street, will be showcasing recent facility enhancements during an Open House Celebration May 13-17. During this week, prospective members and guests will have the ability to use the YMCA, take staff-guided tours, and join the Y with no initiation fee.

Some of the most notable enhancements include new cardio and weight equipment on the wellness floor, renovated Group Exercise studios, enhancements to the men’s and women’s locker rooms, and new paint and lighting throughout the facility.

“For 148 years, the YMCA has been serving the Lincoln community with a Downtown location,” Barb Bettin, Chief Executive Officer for the YMCA of Lincoln, said. “Our Downtown members are a close-knit group and they deserve to have a wonderful facility to help them achieve their wellness goals. These recent enhancements will only help us to serve our members better in the future and give them the kind of experience they’ve come to expect from being a YMCA member.”

During the week, current members will receive thank you gifts as appreciation for their flexibility during the renovations. There will also be prizes and giveaways for prospective members who attend the Open House. Many Downtown businesses will receive special invitations for their employees to participate in free events during the week, including some Group Exercise classes led by instructors who work for their company.

The YMCA has had a presence in Downtown Lincoln since 1871 and has been in its current location since 1962. The facility continues to serve more than 4,000 members who live and/or work in the Downtown area today.
