Your Downtown Tailgating Guide
It’s tailgate time again! Ring in the Scott Frost era in downtown Lincoln with our handy guide:
Where: Meier Commons outside of the University of Nebraska Union
When: Aug. 31, building begins at 9:00 a.m.
What: The Great American Flag Project is planning on breaking their second Guinness World Record by creating a "BIG RED HUSKER LOGO" to be built on August 31, 2018 and displayed on September 1, 2018 - opening day of the 2018 Husker Football season. The logo will be built in Meier Commons outside of the Union on the UNL campus. The event will raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The current record is 80.28 square meters or 864.13 square feet. Once built, the Husker "N" will be 159.23 square meters or 1,713.89 S.F.!
Volunteer your time and help build! Children are welcome as long as they bring an adult.
Ayars & Ayars, Inc. 2018 4th Annual Husker Tailgate Party
Where: 8th & S Street
When: Sept. 1, 3:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.
What: Food, drinks, and Husker football!
Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Tailgate
Where: The Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel, 333 S 13th Street
When: Sept. 1, 2 p.m. - 7 p.m.
What: Tailgate with live music from The Killigans on The Cornhusker’s new outdoor patio, Plaza Patio, with cold beverages from MillerCoors and tailgating grub from Miller Time Pub and Grill - Lincoln. Show team spirit with music from the Big Red Alumni Pep Band cheering on the Huskers as they head to Memorial Stadium from the hotel.
The event is open to the public with FREE entry. Call the Cornhusker Sales Office at 402-479-8204 to make arrangements for large groups and corporate events, or for any questions or details.
Kinkaider Tailgate with Goddesses of Rock
Where: Kinkaider Brewing Lincoln, 201 North 7th Street
When: Sept. 1, 3:30 p.m. - 11 p.m.
What: Kinkaider is licensing a huge portion of the train platform and will have bars inside and out, live entertainment, and food options. Catch two shows: Saucy Jack at 3:30 before the game and then a late show with female rocker tribute band, Goddesses of Rock, at 11 p.m. after the game. Kick back with a brew at the NEW Kinkaider bar and restaurant just opened in the Haymarket.
Do the Dock with Lemon Fresh Day
Where: Embassy Suites by Hilton Lincoln, 1040 P Street
When: Sept. 1, 3 p.m. - 12 a.m.
What: DO THE DOCK will be featuring the band Lemon Fresh Day. Enjoy beer, food and live music for free! Do the Dock will be closed during game time but will reopen within the 4th quarter.
