About the Author
John Shaw is a fine art photographer from Lincoln, Nebraska. His artistic journey began in the darkroom, where a fascination with film photography first took root. He studied photography through high school and college, mastering the traditional processes of analog image-making. That classical foundation continues to shape his vision today, producing work that is both technically refined and emotionally resonant. A lifelong musician, Shaw brings a rare harmony to his visual compositions. Years spent mastering the violin and guitar instilled in him a deep understanding of rhythm, tone, and mood-elements that now inform his photographic approach. Shaw's fine art photography draws deeply from Nebraska's land, light, and legacy. His images capture the vast serenity of the Sandhills, with their rolling grasslands and endless skies, as well as the striking architecture and symbolic weight of the Nebraska State Capitol. Among his most sought-after works are his portraits of Cameron the Capitol Cat, which have become iconic reflections of Nebraska's cultural heart. Through both landscape and structure, Shaw's work reveals a profound connection to place-quiet, enduring, and unmistakably Nebraskan.
