Black Leaders Movement is hosting a screening of the critically-acclaimed documentary 13th by Ava DuVernay. 13th is a powerful and thoroughly researched look into the American criminal justice system, exploring the history of slavery, racial inequality, and mass incarceration. The screening of 13th will be followed by a panel discussion with local activists moderated by TEDxLincoln's Communications Chair, Elaina Dye. During the panel, hear from courageous leaders about their lived experiences and issues facing the Black community due to ongoing racism and systems of oppression. This event is supported by the Lied Center for Performing Arts and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Student Involvement. This event is free to the public, but tickets must be reserved in advance. Tickets will be available on Wednesday, July 22. To reserve your tickets go to liedcenter.org, or call the Lied Center Ticket Office at 402-472-4747.
