The Nebraska History Museum invites you to a free admission celebration with the Nebraska National Guard Museum for Armed Forces Day on Saturday, May 16th, from 9 am to 4 pm! All ages are welcome!
Join us for family-friendly activities around the museum, including:
• Nebraska National Guard Museum: From 9am to noon, view various military uniforms and witness living history.
• Artifact Table: Learn about a range of military history in Nebraska through our touchable artifacts.
• Military Bingo: Play bingo while learning about the military connections in our state’s history!
• Scavenger Hunt: Explore the exhibits as you search for objects related to military leaders and sites in Nebraska.
• Create Your Own Medal: Learn about Nebraskans who have been awarded top military medals and the meaning behind them before designing your own!
• Read-Along: Join us at 10:00, 11:00, 1:00, and 2:00 as we read “Major: A Soldier Dog” as we follow along with Major’s time in the K9 Corps at Fort Robinson during World War II. Then test your sense of smell, just like Major!
• Honoring Military Personnel in Our Lives: Did you know that many of the Nebraska State Historical Society staff have personal connections to our military? Discover those connections, then join us in honoring those who serve by adding your loved one.
The free admission for this event is funded in support from the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation.
