Details

Pantera is an American heavy metal band from Arlington, TX, formed in 1981. The group's best-known lineup consisted of the Abbott brothers (drummer Vinnie Paul and guitarist Dimebag Darrell), along with bassist Rex Brown and vocalist Phil Anselmo. In addition to their development and popularization of the groove metal subgenre, Pantera is credited for being part of the second wave of thrash metal scene from the late 1980s to the early to mid-1990s. Pantera is regarded as one of the most successful and influential bands in heavy metal history, having sold around 20 million records worldwide and having received four Grammy nominations. The last time the band played together, prior to this past summer, was in August of 2001.

This reformation includes Zakk Wylde (Guitar) and Charles Benante (Drums) in place of the Abbott Brothers and original members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown. They are currently touring with Metallica as support on night one.
