Project Funway by Fresh Start will showcase the work of local designers and students from the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design in the College of Education and Human Services at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for a "Project Runway" style design contest on Friday, November 12. The event will take place at The Cornhusker Marriott Hotel and will raise money and support for Fresh Start, an agency that helps women experiencing homelessness get back on their feet and on the path to independence.

For Project Funway, designers create fashionable clothing that will be modeled on a runway walk. They take thrift-store and cast-off clothing and transform it into one-of-a-kind, glamorous outfits. A panel of judges will vote on the most innovative, best use of materials, and best of show. Guests will be able to vote on their favorite designs.

The event will include silent and live auctions for donated items, such as a week’s stay at a condo in Winter Park, CO, catering for 50 from Tacos Azteca, 2022 Salt Dogs tickets, and a basket from Lululemon Athletica. General admission tickets are $50 per person and VIP tickets are $75 per person and include reserved seating and an event pre-party.
