Public Art Lincoln, in partnership with the City of Lincoln, invites community members to participate in the inaugural Public Art Lincoln Stroll, Saturday, May 16. This free event, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is an outdoor one-mile sculpture walk through Union Plaza suitable for all ages. Free parking is available at the Assurity Center Parking Garage, 338 N. 20th St.
The walk begins at Jayne Snyder Trails Center, 250 N. 21st St., where participants can obtain a map and event information. From there, guests will embark on a stroll to discover art activities, art installations and learn more about the artists and stories behind the works.
Elizabeth Katt, Executive Director of Public Art Lincoln, said the Public Art Lincoln Stroll reflects the organization’s mission to cultivate a dynamic public art environment that enhances community identity and accessibility. By bringing art into shared public spaces, this volunteer-led event encourages residents and visitors alike to engage with Lincoln’s cultural landscape in a meaningful and active way, she said.
“This event is about connecting people – with art, with place, and with each other. We’re excited to activate Union Plaza with creativity and invite the community to experience public art in a new, interactive format,” Katt said.
