Green Team
The Downtown Lincoln Green Team manages the city right-of-way in the Downtown Maintenance BID, focusing on trash and litter collection, landscape and tree maintenance, irrigation, and asset management including trash cans, benches, bike racks, and more. The team is directed by Vice President of Operations, Brian Munk.
Every day, the Green Team checks and empties over 500 recycling and waste receptacles as well as retrieves trash from inside landscape beds to keep downtown clean, safe and healthy. The Green Team also places auxiliary trash cans for Husker football season to accommodate the overflow of trash on game days. The Downtown BID is made up of over 1,000,000 total sq. ft. of turf and landscape and around 2,000 trees. The Green Team’s special projects schedule can be divided up monthly:
March - May: Clearing plant and tree debris from winter and add a fresh layer of mulch to each landscape bed
June - August: Weeding and additional projects including asset repair and landscape bed renovation
September - October: Planting season!
November- December: Cleaning and preparing landscape beds for winter
January - February: Tree trimming and replacing assets
If you have any maintenance related comments, questions or concerns, please reach out to Brian Munk, VP of Operations or Jack Parr, Irrigation & Horticulture Systems Manager.
